LATEST PG SHOWCASE REPORT
2024 Great Lakes Prospect Gateway
First Base:
- Showed a good feel for the glove and was able to make good picks out in front. Focus on trying to show more aggression and energy working to the baseball. Staying direct with the footwork will allow for smoother transitions and a more fluid fielding action.
- Focus on making good transfers after fielding the ball. Being able to bring the transfer to the mid-line and stay fluid through it will allow for a more fluid action top-to-bottom.
- Made good picks and had good throws at 67 mph. Continued arm strength will come with age and maturity.
Hitting:
- A wider base and toe-tap trigger working into the swing. Focus on taking the hands direct to the ball with quick hands and a shorter path. Being able to beat the ball to the spot is a good cue, allowing the hands and barrel to get out front, find the ball, and connect.
- Level path through the impact that worked well during BP. Focus on trying to match planes and work back through the middle of the field with hard-hit line drives. Being able to get on a slightly uphill path, rather than just linear, will allow for good results working off the barrel.
- Continued bat speed and impact strength will improve with age/maturity.
Pitching:
- Showed a medium arm stroke with a three-quarters release. Focus on organizing the move down the slope with more connection. Staying in-sync from leg lift, to gather, to release is important. Ride the slope downhill and focus on keeping the body moving forward on-line and in-sync to create a more fluid motion through release.
- He showed a lot of fastballs during his outing. Focus on being able to mix pitches and sequence better with both pitch type and location to allow for more deception and the ability to miss bats.
- Continued improvements to arm strength will come with age/maturity.
