Casson is a 6-0 right handed hitting junior catcher from south Florida. He has good strength throughout his body and very good core strength, although not much physical projection. Defensively, Casson stood out in all areas. He threw 76 mph with a 1.96 pop in drills but showed even better arm strength in game situations. His throws have very good on-line carry and are accurate. Casson showed very nice quickness behind the plate and received the ball comfortably and easily. He could be a real defensive asset at the next level. Casson also played some third base and showed some of the same defensive qualities. Offensively, Casson has a good coil and load and an aggressive swing that generates good bat speed. He’s a bit long and grooved in his swing at times when he’s trying to hit with power but other times will show he’s tracking the ball well. Casson’s offensive game doesn’t appear as polished as his defensive game but he has the raw tools to keep improving. He is a good student, too.
