2005 National Showcase
Jason Kudlock is a 2006 shortstop/third baseman from Chandler, AZ with a lean athletic build at 6-2, 175 lbs. He ran the 60 in 7.04 and threw 83 mph during infield drills. Kudlock's actions point to third base in the future as he gets bigger and stronger and his footwork and actions should be a plus at the corner position. At the plate, Kudlock has an unusual approach with a negative weight shift load with a high handed set up. Kudlock hits from an open stance and is looking to pull the ball. This approach works for him. He shows very good power and the ball jumps off his bat. We're guessing that Kudlock has very strong hands and his swing mechanics give him very good leverage at the point of contact. He hit a deep and high moon shot home run to left center field during one of the showcase games at Turner Field which got everyone's attention. Kudlock's body and tools project well and is bat is impressive. He has a nice upside. He is also a very good student.
