2004 Underclass National Showcase
Jeffrey Beliveau -- Beliveau is a multi-tooled junior prospect from Rhode Island who attends the same school as potential 2004 first rounder RHP Jay Rainville and that formally featured Tampa Bay centerfielder Rocco Baldelli. They can play a bit of baseball in that area of the Northeast. Beliveau is a medium framed athlete with deceptive strength and a multitude of quick twitch muscles. He’s a solid above average big league runner with above average present arm strength from the outfield. Beliveau has a quick left handed bat and can turn on a ball with power. His swing is smooth and easy as only a left hander’s can be. Although we like Beliveau better as a position player right now, you can’t ignore his pitching ability either for a left hander. Beliveau threw 83-85 mph for 2 innings from a high ¾’s release point. He’s an easy, no effort thrower with sound mechanics and very good athletic balance on the mound. Beliveau’s curveball was 66-69 mph with good downward breaking action. Beliveau’s approach to the game is very mature and polished and it doesn’t surprise us that he’s a good student, also This "05" is for real! Possible good draft pick.
