2004 Underclass National Showcase
Andrew Huffstetler -- Heffstetler is an athletic looking 6-2 sophomore right hander with sloping shoulders and room to add plenty of strength. He threw 4 innings at the World Underclass and we think he’s a shadow of what he could be with better pitching mechanics. Huffstetler lands hard on his heel with a severe head tilt and throws uphill, never letting his arm get extension out front. He still threw 75-77 mph with a big 65 mph curveball that had OK depth to it and was able to throw consistent strikes. It would be worth following Huffstetler to see if he can smooth things out and take advantage of his natural ability. If he gets with a good pitching instructor he could be a big sleeper. He also showed good hitting ability. Good bat speed, nice swing plane, good leverage and outstanding power potential. Andrew is also a good student.
