2004 National Showcase
Andrew McCutchen is a lean athletic 5'11/170 OF from Fort Meade, FL. We have been following him since he was in 9th grade and he's been ranked among the best in the national class ever since. McCutchen’s tool package is similar to 2003 Mets first round pick Lastings Milledge, with a slighter body and a tick less arm strength. He still has a plus plus MLB arm though. McCutchen can really generate serious bat speed despite his slender frame and the ball jumps off his bat in a big hurry. His arm strength and speed play at all three outfield positions, but he's a legit draftable centerfielder. He has big power potential and he's going to get stronger. He is another guy from the nationals that could easily be graded a 5 tool player. Andrew has always shown big time makeup to go along with his great talent. He is a good student who needs to score a bit better on his ACT. He's a high impact star on any college team and he's got first round draft possibilities. One of the very best! Andrew was selected to the AFLAC All American Team.
