Jonathan Edwards is a 2006 outfielder/first baseman from Keller, TX with a very strong athletic build at 6-5, 230 lbs. Edwards is a surprisingly good runner for his size at 6.96 and has easy athletic actions. Edwards has one of the strongest outfield arms that we've ever seen. He threw 97 mph in outfield drills with outstanding on-line carry and accuracy. He throws easy and has sound fundamentals. With his speed and athletic ability and top level professional arm strength, Edwards should be a standout defensively in right field. Interestingly, we put Edwards on the mound for an inning and the arm strength didn't translate as he only threw 84 mph with a labored arm action. Offensively, Edwards has plus, plus power in his bat. The ball jumps on contact and Edwards can hit the ball out of any part of the ball park. His swing is long right now and he tends to get his hands started late, which leaves him behind good fastballs, but if he's able to make adjustments he can be a middle of the lineup offensive force. Pro scouts will dream big time when they watch Edwards and his raw tools.
