Josh Thrailkill is a 2006 RHP from TC Roberson HS in Arden, NC, with a lean and athletic 6'4", 185 lb. frame. He has a slow, easy delivery with good balance over the rubber and a compact arm circle in back. Thrailkill has the kind of delivery that will pretty much guarantee he'll be able to throw strikes and spot his pitches effectively as he develops as a pitcher. Thrailkill's fastball topped out at 90 mph in Atlanta; we've heard of him touching the mid-90's in the past and he certainly projects into that range with his body, arm speed and delivery. His best pitch was a 73-76 mph curveball that had very good depth and sharp spin. Thrailkill throws from a standard 3/4's release point and gets over his curveball to right handers, creating a hard downer bite. He gets on the side of his curveball to left handers a bit more, creating a big sweeping bite and the opportunity to back door the left handers. Thrailkill also throws a pretty good 78 mph change up. Overall, Thrailkills is a developing young pitcher with very good present stuff and a very high upside. He's also an very good student.
