2004 Underclass National Showcase
Mendoza is an "05" LHP/OF from Miami. At 5'10/180 he is a strong young man. In Ft Myers he threw around 80 with excellent mechanics. He throws out of a low 3/4 delivery and gets good life on the fastball. He shows good command and movement on all his pitches including his high 60s breaking ball. We didn't see the changeup and that will end up being an important pitch for him in the future. Lefties that throw well from this angle are in demand at college programs. Jose is a good student.
