Justin Weiss is a 2005 RHP from Miami, FL, and is a strong bodied 6'2" right handed pitcher with some very good stuff. He throws from a mid to low ¾’s release point with a long, full arm stroke in back. Weiss’s release gives him excellent running action on his fastball, although his arm stroke does give the left hand hitter a better chance to see the ball. Weiss’s fastball was steady between 82 and 85 mph for three innings of work. Both of Weiss’s secondary pitches were quality offerings. His breaking ball was a 71-73 mph slurve, probably the best option from his arm angle and arm stroke, and it was big and sharp at times. Weiss tends to show his slurve a bit but it’s a good pitch most of the time. Weiss also showed a good feel for a 73-75 mph change up. From what we saw Weiss looks like he has the talent and pitching style to be a very good college pitcher. He shows athleticism and power in all his movements. Justin is a very good student with a bright future.
