2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Andy Cannon is a 5-7, 140 lb senior outfielder from Illinois with good quickness and body life and some hidden strength for his size. He runs the 60 in 7.16 and has quick actions and a quick first step that will enable him to steal bases. Defensively, Cannon moves to the ball very well and has a quick release and solid arm strength. His throws were accurate and on line. Cannon hits from a spread no stride stance and has strong, quick hands for his size. It looked like he had better at bats against the pitchers throwing harder when he just used his quickness to the ball and wasn't tempted to muscle up. When Cannon hit with his hands, he centered the ball consistently and made good up the middle contact. Overall, Cannon has a well balanced set of tools and skills and can do a number of things to help a team win. He is an excellent student with elite level test scores and should be a contributing player at the next level.
