Kyle DeGrace is a physically strong 5'11" senior from Canada with good skills and versatility. He worked out for us in the outfield and behind the plate, and also played some first base during games. DeGrace has the speed (7.29 in the 60), arm strength, and actions to play all those positions and physically should have no trouble at third base either. His ability to catch along with play multiple positions should make him extra valuable to scholarship strapped college programs. With the bat, DeGrace hits from an open to closed approach with lots of hand action prior to getting the bat going. In batting practice, DeGrace showed an aggressive approach with good bat speed and plenty of loft in his swing, which showed his power potential. During the five games we saw him play, DeGrace showed good bat head skills, striking out only once, including three games against college pitchers, but did not have as aggressive an approach towards the ball. Trading a few strikeouts for a few extra base hits would be a good trade. Overall, DeGrace is a solid all around player who impresses you the more you watch him. Kyle is a good student.
