Wertz is a 2-way prospect that was a top player at this event. He ran a 6.72 and showed that speed in the outfield with a straight path to the the ball covering ground fast. When he got to the ball he threw rockets to the base. In fact, we clocked his outfield throw at 90 mph and it looked like 90 coming in from the warning track. With the bat he did not try to do too much, staying in balance and hitting the ball all over the field with sharp line drives. He showed good hitting ability in BP and in the games with quick hands and a short swing. He also took the mound and threw 87-88 mph fastballs and a 70 mph curveball. He used a good looking 71 mph change-up in warm-ups, but never went to it in the game. He struck out 5 batters and we think this exciting player is going to be followed by many people from here on in. We look forward to seeing him again. Outstanding athlete. Excellent student.
