2003 Northeast Top Prospect Showcase
Wyner is an "04" RHP and a big time prospect. At 6'5/205 he is strong and really looks the part of a Big League pitcher. In Wareham he threw 92 mph with good life. He gets good leverage using his legs and body well. He has a fast whip-like arm and is pretty athletic on the hill. He has a good feel for the change up that shows like a potential plus pitch. The only thing that might keep Wyner from being an early round pick is the breaking ball. He throws a slow breaker, that spins well but it's his weakest pitch. He throws it in the 65-68 range. With Wyners arm he needs to develop a curveball with more velocity or better yet a hard slider. There's no question he should be able to throw a hard slider. Right now he has a million dollar arm with a ten cent breaking ball. However based on everything else he grades out a perfect "10" for us. We're betting the breaking ball will come. Mark is a good student.
