2004 Midwest Undergrad Showcase
Matt Chimienti is a 6'3", 205 pound, 2006 RHP from Tinley Park, IL, with a thick, strong build. He has a smooth arm action and a big league pitcher's body. He pitches from a 3/4 arm slot with a high leg kick that produces a fastball with good late life at 79-81 mph. He also throws a tight, 11-5 curveball at 67 mph with late bite, and a hard change-up at 70-73 mph with decent sink. He has very good command of all 3 pitches and hits his spots well in any count. He is a good student and a very smart pitcher who seems to have a good feel and knowledge of the craft. Offensively, he hits from a wide stance and has a big, long swing. Matt definitely projects out as a high level college pitcher, and a possible draft guy for 2006.
