2004 Southeast Top Prospect Showcase
Michael Moore is a 2005 catcher from Charlotte, North Carolina, with an athletic 6'1", 175 lb. frame who really hit the ball well in Chapel Hill. Michael showed good foot speed for a catcher turning in a 7.10 sixty time, and could undoubtedly play many different positions with his athletic ability. Behind the plate his pop times ranged from 2.12-2.21, with above average carry. Michael showed good transfers and average footwork. All his catching skills are solid, but there is room to polish his transfers and footwork, and his pop time should continue to drop. At the plate he is right handed hitter with a narrow stance and no load approach. He has very good balance in his swing with a short bat path, and showed good bat speed with strong hands. Michael gets behind the ball well and uses the whole field. We'd like to see more of him as a hitter, but we were very impressed with what we did see. He is an excellent student.
