2006 Academic Showcase
Ben Condon is a 2007 MIF with a 5'11'', 165 lb. frame from Peachtree City GA, who attends Woodward Academy. He has a thin frame and a wiry projectable body. We've seen Condon play frequently and have a good feel for his defensive skills in particular. He has quick defensive actions and good feet and balance. He has the raw arm strength to play shortstop but has the polished ability to shorten his release, throw from different arm angles and make plays on the move. Offensively, Condon has a polished approach in the box with good balance and a quick, short path to the ball. He has alley type bat speed and hits line drives to all fields. Condon stays inside the ball well and can handle the bat head. With his present strenght and swing he's a high contact, high average type of hitter. Condon also pitched some at the showcase and showed the same type of polish that he does in the field and at the plate. He topped out at 83 mph with a 69 mph curveball and 73 mph change up and threw strikes with an idea. Condon is a polished player who should perform well at the college level. He is an incredible student, too.
