Derrick Valenzuela is a 2012 SS/RHP with a 5-9 155 lb. frame from Dumas, TX who attends Dumas HS. Medium to shorter athletic build, some present strength. 7.00 runner, good infield arm strength, shows his arm in games, works hard defensively, some actions, hands will need some softening. Squared stance, good patience and plate coverage, long swing with some lift and extension, shows some power, good bat speed at times, good feel for hitting. Also pitched, low 80's fastball, topped at 82 mph, tends to open early and pull off the plate. Good student.
