2003 Western Underclass Showcase
Madigan was one of the youngest players at the Western Underclass Showcase and one of the slenderest at 5-10, 145. However, he really impresses us with his smooth athletic ability and the potential he has both on the mound and at the plate. On the mound, Madigan threw 77-80 with an easy arm action and good run on his fastball. He throws much better out of the stretch now as it simplifies his delivery and this especially shows on his 65 mph curveball. Madigan had good bat speed despite his size, especially from the right side. He hit some balls down the alley’s in batting practice. He can hit! His actions on defense at first base are easy and natural. He’s a 7.26 runner, which is noteworthy for a 15 year old. We think Madigan’s going to get much better; how much will depend on how much strength he can add. Sean is a good student.
