Shane Masters is a 2007 RHP/2B with a 6'2'', 182 lb. frame from Sarasota FL, who attends Riverview HS. He has a good pitcher's body with some lean strength. Masters has an unusual delivery with lots of deception and he does an excellent job of hiding the ball during a short/compact arm action. Hitters swung through a lot of pitches that looked very hittable and they must not have been seeing the ball. Masters' fastball was mostly in the upper 70's and touched 82 mph. He spotted it very well around the strike zone. His breaking ball is a 66-69 mph slider that has curveball speed but a late, sharp slider break. He also has a nice change up at 70 mph. Masters has an advanced ability to pitch and has deception on his side, so he's very effective. He's a good overall athlete who ran the 60 in 7.17, showed nice arm strength from the outfield and showed some bat speed at the plate with good balance and some power potential. Masters is a good student off the field.
