2014 West Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Jonathan Buckley is a 2015 RHP with a 6-4 195 lb. frame from Chino, CA who attends Ruben S. Ayala. XL frame, tall strong well proportioned build. Has transitioned f rom a two-way prospect to a primary pitcher and the results have been impressive. Velocity has now climbed into the mid-upper 80s and the development of his splitter gives him a legitimate weapon to put hitters away when he commands it. Splitter takes sharp late dive down towards the plate, uses his frame well to create downhill leverage on his pitches and his fastball has some heaviness. Has begun to repeat his mechanics more consistently as well and his curveball has sharpened but still features good depth in addition.
