Toru Sugiura is a 2015 C with a 5-9 170 lb. frame from Chula Vista, CA who attends Cathedral Catholic HS. Sturdy compact frame, good present strength. Very quick release on catch and throw mechanics, arm plays up due to release time, accurate throws, quick feet and good mechanics, short arm action, good receiver with lateral agility behind the plate. Switch hitter, more polished from the left side at present. Shows ability to lift the ball, has some strength at contact, solid bat speed and some barrel control from the left side, opposite field approach as a right handed hitter. Good student.
