2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Klein is a 2006 catcher from Conroe, TX, with very good present strength who is going to have to work hard to keep his body under control as he gets older and evolves as a player. Klein has the raw tools to be a strong college catching prospect. He’s a switch hitter with some very good power potential, especially from the left side, where his swing is smoother with better extension. Klein’s game at bats were better than his batting practice, which is always a welcome event. Defensively, Klein has more than enough arm strength to shut off the running game, and had a couple of pop times under 2.00. Klein also played some third base during the games and looked pretty smooth at that position, showing his athleticism. The only weakness is sub par running ability. Tyler is a very good student.
