William Ellis -- Ellis is a sophomore outfielder who has some good present tools and skills that are just going to get better as he matures into his 6-0, 160 lb frame. He shows impressive bat speed for his age and did a very good job both in batting practice and during games of making solid contact. Ellis keeps his hands very high during his setup and seems to feast on pitches up in the zone. Everything he hit off live pitching was towards the middle of the field. Ellis threw 84 mph from the outfield and didn’t pitch until the last day, which may have tired his arm. He threw 79-81 mph from the mound from a high ¾’s release point and got good running life on his fastball. Ellis’ best pitch was a 71 mph change up that had big time sinking movement to it. He didn’t show a curveball in 3 innings. William is an excellent student who should be a high demand college recruit in two years.
