Zach Woods is a wiry strong 2006 two way prospect from Virginia Beach, Virginia. On the mound, Woods throws across his body from a low ¾ to side arm release point. Unlike many pitchers with this style, Woods shows very little effort in his delivery and his arm works smoothly and effortlessly. Interestingly, Woods had the same type of low arm angle from the outfield, but was still able to show very good (84 mph) arm strength. It looks like his natural slot. Woods' fastball was 82-84 mph and he showed the ability to spot the ball on both sides of the plate. He threw a sweeping 69-72 mph curveball that was mostly from his lower release points, and also had a nice 75 mph change up that was effective. At the plate, Woods is a straight up hitter who gets little help from his lower half, but still generates good bat speed with good extension and some power potential. Woods is also a 6.88 runner, which obviously helps his position prospect status.
