Austin James is a 2016 SS with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Valrico, FL who attends Bloomingdale HS. Long and lean athletic build with room to fill out. Right handed hitter who starts with a square stance and spread base. Hands work well and are short to ball, shows strength in swing with jump and carry to the pull side. Improved as round went on, squared up more balls and showed solid barrel control. Shows good bat speed and tools to continue to improve on. Defensively, primary SS, athletic action with quick feet and soft hands. Has good reactions and shows athleticism on slow roller. Fields ball out front and has a lower release slot off of a quick transfer and release. Ran 6.94 sixty. Verbally Committed to Florida International.
