Ian J. Diaz is a 2017 LHP/1B, IF with a 6-1 205 lb. frame from Bayamon, PR who attends Perkiomen High School. Large frame and build with a strong lower half and a physically mature frame. Primary left handed pitcher, smooth delivery with an easy arm action and balanced delivery. Fastball worked 70-72 mph and did well to locate it to both sides of the plate. Also mixed in a 12/6 shaped curveball with good depth at 63 mph for strikes. Worked out at first base as well, fielded clean with a longer arm action and sound hands. At the plate, swung primarily with his upper half with a line drive swing plane and lots of strength present. Drives the ball easily with power potential given lift in swing. Would create even more leverage and power with additional lower half incorporation.
