Ethan Butka is a 2016 RHP/ with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Aliso Viejo, CA who attends Aliso Niguel. Large frame with good athleticism throughout body; some projection remaining on frame. Showcases a loose arm on the mound, whippy arm speed to mid 3/4 slot, balanced leg raise start with simple mechanics throughout. Worked quickly and mixed & matched 4 pitches throughout 4 innings of work. FB worked in the 79-82 range, held velocity throughout outing, generates good run and sink on FB, able to miss bats as well as elicit weak ground balls. Showed CB early with solid spin but favored SL that showed sweeping action and was very effective. Flashed CH with some fading action. Threw strikes with all 4 pitches and was able to work down in the zone effectively with consistency.
