Gage Johnson is a 2016 SS/RHP with a 5-9 150 lb. frame from Phoenix, AZ who attends Pinnacle. Medium frame, young athletic build. Solid young two-way player. Line drive swing plane, spread stance, contact approach, good extension through contact, quiet hand load, uses middle of the field well, solid present bat speed and projects for more. Good defensive actions, good release time on backhand play, moves well laterally, athletic actions, quick transfer, projectable defensive tools. Also pitched, up to 79 mph with fastball from three quarter arm slot, extended release with a short arm action, 11-5 curveball with good control, has long term upside on the mound as well. Interesting young player to follow. Good student.
