Jared Gillis is a 2016 OF/3B with a 6-1 185 lb. frame from Smyrna, DE who attends Smyrna HS. Medium frame, athletic build, long limbs, stronger look with room to fill out physically as he continues to put on additional muscle. Posted a 7.31 60-yard dash, moves well on the field and base paths. From the outfield, moves quickly to and through the baseball, throws from a short over the top arm action, accurate throws. From the infield, fields the ball out in front, quick footwork, solid athleticism, works through the baseball, quick transfers, short arm action on throws across. Made two of the best defensive plays all weekend from the infield and outfield, full extension dives on both. At the plate, right-handed hitter that starts with wide base, high hand set, and high back elbow. Short compact swing, swings on a line drive swing plane, gets the barrel to and through the baseball with good extension, solid bat speed, has natural lift at the point of contact. Good student.
