2015 South Top Prospect Showcase
Trey Roach is a 2016 C/2B, RHP with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Argyle, TX who attends Covenant Christian Academy. Medium, broad shouldered build with nice present strength throughout frame. Ran a 7.90 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, shows quick feet behind the plate, short and tight arm action at release, arm strength will continue to develop with incorporation of lower half, around the bag with throws, 2.01 top pop time. Also pitched, came out attacking hitters from an over the top arm slot and shorter arm action in the back. Works ahead in the count, fastball topped at 74 mph and flashed a slider for strikes. Right-handed hitters, starts with a wide base and a lower hand set away from body. Line drive swing plane, creates some leverage at contact and shows nice strength to pull side. Shows a feel for the barrel and can hit to either gap. Hands work through swing well, competes at the plate, best carry comes to left field. Named to South Top Prospect List. Very good student.
