2006 California Uncommitted Showcase
Anthony Nunez is a 2007 OF/1B with a 5'11'', 170 lb. frame from Auburn CA, who attends Bear River HS. Nunez had a very good performance showcase at the plate and also showed good tools. He runs a bit, has a strong arm, and can hit. Not too much not to like. Nunez has a lean, strong, athletic body and should continue to fill out a bit more. Offensively he showed that he can drive the baseball to all fields. He easily gets to the pull side and drove the ball to the opposite field. His hitting approach is quite good. He sets up well at the plate and stays balanced throughout his swing. His hands are lively and he drives them through contact. Nunez is the type of hitter who simply gets his hits. He can hit the whole plate and should maintain a high average, with some power from time to time. He also runs the bases well and plays like a gamer. Defensively he is a solid player. He has a strong arm and the ball exits his hand well. He makes accurate, low trajectory throws and showed the ability to play all three outfield spots. He is a strong student and has a very well-rounded game, solid tools, and usability of his tools. College player.
