Brian Morrell is a 2017 RHP/SS with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Wading River, NY who attends Shoreham-Wading River HS. Strong athletic build. Uses his lower half well in his delivery, 3/4's arm slot, creates angle to the plate, has energy to his delivery. Plenty of arm strength, topped out at 93 mph with his fastball, works his fastball to both sides of the plate but still tuning up command. Slurve type breaking ball has tight spin and good depth, varies the shape of it between 11/5 curveball depth and a true slider tilt. Reliever type profile at the moment. Showed his arm strength well from the outfield in drills. Right handed hitter, full effort swing with an upper cut swing and good bat speed, has power when he's on time and squares up. Outstanding student, verbal commitment to Notre Dame.
