2015 Florida Top Prospect Showcase
Steven Owusu is a 2016 RHP/OF with a 6-0 185 lb. frame from Tampa, FL who attends Jesuit HS. Medium, well-proportioned frame with broad shoulders, strong athletic build. Primary right handed pitcher, only pitched at this event. Worked exclusively from the stretch, showed solid feel for clean, simple delivery. Compact arm-action, works to a three-quarter's arm slot, maintains good fluidity with arm path, shows ability to get extended over frontside. Slight closed landing with crossfire release, repeats well and has solid command. Fastball up to 83 mph, has been up to 86 at other Perfect Game events. Shows ability to work to both sides of plate with fastball, more comfortable working to the armside. Flashed feel for curveball in the low-70s, offering has some sweeping shape at times, shows good depth and later break when out in front, extended. Also flashes rare changeup, solid armspeed, still refining command. Very good student.
