Joe Warnecke is a 2016 C/OF with a 5-11 180 lb. frame from Manchester, MO who attends St Louis University HS. Strong, sturdy frame with physically mature build and plenty of strength. Hits from slightly open, upright stance. Tempo-driven swing that is very good when on time. Good strength and leverage in swing, good bat speed with some legitimate power. Makes consistent hard contact to all fields when on time. Will get rotational at times, uses lower half well, gets good extension as well. Worked out in the outfield and at catcher. Showed very good arm strength from the OF, topping at 87 MPH although the accuracy of the throws could use improvement. Deliberate actions, fields cleanly. Sets up with straight back and good, low bend behind plate. Stabs a bit to receive, but footwork, transfer, and release are all quick and smooth. Gains lots of ground. Accurate throws topping at 78 MPH. Popped 2.01. Good student.
