2015 Atlantic Coast Top Prospect Showcase
Tyler Penner is a 2016 LHP/ with a 6-1 190 lb. frame from Matthews, NC who attends Weddington. Large frame with solid strength throughout body, athletic build with good projection remaining. Ran 7.12 seconds in 60 yard dash. Shows longer arm action on the mound, slight stab in back of arm circle, gets up to high 3/4 slot with medium effort in arm action, uses lower half well and drives downhill, generates some plane on FB. FB worked 80-83 with some arm side run. Showed CB in mid-upper 60's with 11/5 shape and quality depth; good overall ability to generate spin. Flashed CH to round out 3 pitch arsenal, good arm speed on pitch with straighter action in mid 70's, good velocity differential from FB. Has deception in delivery, hides the ball relatively well until release. Threw strikes consistently. Named to 2015 Atlantic Coast Top Showcase Top Prospect List. Very good student.
