2007 National Showcase
Ryan Weber is a 2008 RHP with a 6'0'', 170 lb. frame from St. Petersburg, FL who attends Clearwater Central HS. He has a small framed build but is getting stronger and more physical. Weber has been one of the most successful pitchers in his age group over the past few years and is very polished and in command on the mound. He throws from a low 3/4's whippy arm action that is deceptive to right handed hitters. His fastball was 88-90, touched 91 mph in Cincinnati with hard plus sinking and running action in to right handed hitters. Weber's out pitch is a big breaking 81 mph frisbee slider that is a perfect compliment to his hard running fastball. Weber will mix in a quality change up during games but didn't in the showcase environment. He has pin point command of his pitches and knows how to use his FB/SL to get hitters very off balance. Weber is the type of pitcher who is very effective pitching in the mid to upper 80's; if he were ever to be able to throw in the low 90's with the same type of life on his fastball he would be just nasty. He has a verbal commitment to Florida.
