Spencer VanDerStarren is a 2016 C/1B with a 5-11 190 lb. frame from Misssissauga, ON who attends Lorne Park Secondary. Phyiscal, athletic, well-proportioned build with good present strength. Polished defensive catcher, shows soft hands and quality receiving skills. Has solid footwork, gains ground well on throws, uses deliberate release and shows some arm strength. Throws were accurate, online. Right handed hitter, quiet hands and simple load, stays inside the ball for most part, can get longer and hit off backside at times. Strength flashes in swing, shows ability to sting the ball, carry off of barrel to middle of the field. Hitting tools to work with. Excellent student.
