Alex Griggs is a 2016 RHP/3B with a 6-4 210 lb. frame from Colleyville, TX who attends Covenant Christian Academy. Extra-large, athletic build with a strong, physical frame and some room to still fill out. Ran a 7.49 60-yard dash. Primary right-handed pitcher, works from a three-quarter arm slot with an easy arm action in the back. High leg kick delivery and maintains velocity from the stretch well. Fastball topped at 87 mph, showed the ability to generate arm side run to it as well as cut the pitch. Slider shows some 10-4 break with occasional depth and has a feel for a changeup at 78 mph with fade to arm side. Interesting arm to follow. Right-handed hitter, starts with a high hand set and high back elbow. Longer path to the ball, gets the barrel through the zone, generates some leverage in swing with strength to his pull side. Named to South Underclass Top Prospect List. Very good student.
