Richie Goodenow is a 2006 left handed pitcher from Nashville, TN with a medium build that shows good core strength at 6-2, 185 lbs. He throws from a low 3/4's release point with a long, extended arm action that gives him a lot of running action on a fastball that reached 89 mph. Goodenow tends to open up early and throw with a slinging action but the ball comes out of his hand very easily and he finishes well out front. Goodenow's breaking ball was nasty at 74 mph, with a big, sharp sweeping break that made it very difficult to hit even if the hitter recognized it was coming. We didn't see a change up. Goodenow showed good command and pitchability and was very effective. Left handed hitters are going to have a really tough time handling Goodenow with his release point and curveball, especially. Goodenow is a highest level left handed pitching prospect with a very bright future.
