Austin Chavis is a 2017 SS/2B with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Bel Air, MD who attends Calvert Hall College High School. Medium, athletic frame with broad shoulders and present strength to frame, additional room to fill throughout. Primary middle infield, fields the ball out front, moves well on feet going up the middle, extra steps at release but showed off arm strength across diamond, shorter and compact arm stroke through the back, showed ability to make throws from multiple arm slots. Righthanded hitter, begins with an open and spread stance with a high back elbow in the box. Shorter path to the ball, shows nice looseness to swing and gets extended out front. Swings with intent and creates sound bat speed through the zone, creates extension along with separation and lift out front and can create backspin to pull side, repeats well and comes well nicely. Good student.
