Ethan Royal is a 2021 OF/3B with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Arroyo Grande, CA who attends Arroyo Grande. Medium frame with a lean, athletic build. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary outfielder with clean footwork while round and closing to the baseball. Picks up baseball out front and worked through exchange cleanly. Released from a three-quarters slot created accurate carry to the bag at 77 mph. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple leg lift trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Flashed good hand quickness through the zone while employing a linear barrel plane. Looked to work the baseball to the middle of the field and pull side gap on a line. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to high leg lift delivery. Compact take back and released from an over top arm slot. Fastball generated good downward plane through the zone in the low to mid 70's. Consistently located to the bottom quadrants of the zone and induced weaker contact. Excellent student. Named to the 2019 West Academic Showcase, Top Prospect List.
