Wesley Mitchell is a 2020 3B/ with a 6-3 185 lb. frame from Katy, TX who attends Houston Christian. Large and athletic frame. Ran a 7.20 second 60 yard dash. Primary third baseman, worked out in the infield with high effort actions, works around the ball while bending at the waist, comes through it well and takes a loose arm action into his throws, athleticism at the hot corner, topped out at 84 mph across the diamond. Also pitched, sets up on the first base side of the rubber, starts delivery with a turn step up to a high leg lift, takes his arm back to a clean arm action up to a high ¾ arm slot, arm works and creates a steep plane to the plate, fastball topped out at 82 mph, mixed in a sharp curveball with late bite, changeup was also mixed in with fading action. Righthanded hitter, sets up at the plate with a slightly open stance, upper half dominant swing with plenty of strength and bat speed, creates leverage through the hitting zone, gap to gap approach with some juice to his pull side. Good student. Named to 2019 Sunshine Gulf Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
