Nitschmann is a 6-1, 170 lb senior left handed pitcher from Texas with a lean build. He has a complicated multi-part delivery that creates lots of deception for the hitter. He's especially busy with his hands and arms during his delivery, turns his back to the hitter and he finishes things off with a cross body release. Nitschmann has four pitches that he uses interchangably. His fastball is 78-80 mph with good sinking action down in the zone. You can divide Nitschmann's breaking balls up into a curveball and slider but what he really does is just vary the velocity, break and depth of his breaking balls between the mid 60's and 76 mph. His power slider in the mid-70's is his best pure breaking ball but his slower curveball is effective as a change of pace offering. Nitschmann also throws a standard change up in the mid-60's. Nitschmann's pitching style is very effective when he's commanding his pitches and mixing everything up. He is a very good student off the field.
