Joey Bock is a 2018 RHP/3B, MIF with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Saint Louis, MO who attends John Burroughs. Medium frame with an athletic build and wiry strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays flexed on back side at gather and works to the plate with drop and drive actions. Lands at a slightly closed position on front side but carries momentum to target well. Loose arm circle at separation and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well producing heavy rung to arm side in the mid 80's, topped at 86 miles per hour. Slider had 9/4 shape with loose spin and shorter tilt in the low 70's. Consistently located fastball to each edge of the plate and flashed the ability to elevate late in counts. Worked out defensively from the infield showing tentative footwork while surrounding the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling with developing fluidity while working through transfer. Released from a three-quarters arm slot creating accurate carry across the infield, topped at 80 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance. Hands stay quiet at load and works to contact with rotational lower half actions. Loose hand path to contact with an uphill barrel plane through extension. Primarily looked to work between the gaps creating line drive, ground ball contact to the middle of the field throughout batting practice. Very good student. Named to the 2017 West Academic Showcase Top Prospect List.
