Bynum Martinez is a 2023 3B/RHP, OF with a 5-10 180 lb. frame from Hurst, TX who attends Birdville. Medium, broad shouldered build with present strength throughout frame. Ran an 8.35 60-yard dash. Primary third baseman, fields the ball out front with a wide base, deliberate actions to the ball, takes short steps moving towards the ball, effort at release on throws but works on top and shows carry across, can drop slot with intent. Also pitched, does a nice job of maintaining direction towards the plate while working exclusively out of the stretch, works to a high three-quarters release point. Worked down in the zone with fastball, topped out at 71 mph and filled the zone; mixed in an 11-5 shaped curveball with big break up to 61 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a wide base and a high hand set and lower back elbow in the box, utilizes a gliding front leg trigger, occasionally gets to front side early. Simple swing mechanics overall, generates some whip to the barrel through the zone, upper body dominant swing. Incorporates strength well and shows carry when squared, full path through the zone, looks to lift at the point of contact, will get uphill at times with plane. Excellent student.
