Matthew Santos is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-1 180 lb. frame from Shrewsbury, NJ who attends Red Bank Reg. Large, athletic frame with a strong build for age with some room to still fill out. Primary right-handed pitcher, shows loose and easy mechanics which he repeats well, online delivery with lower half. Throws from a three-quarter arm slot with a quick arm and ball comes out clean from his hand. Fastball topped out at 78 mph with run to his arm side. Feel for curveball which shows 11-5 shape and sinking action on changeup at 68 mph. Filled up zone with all three pitches. Showed good footwork off the first base bag, short arm action with strength on throws across. Right-handed batter, starts with a spread lower half. Upper half swing, keeps hands in well with a short path to the ball, gets barrel through the zone well. Very good student.
