Connor Stephens is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 220 lb. frame from Stone Mountain, GA who attends Marist High School. Extra large build and frame, sloped shoulders, athleticism, strength, and a compact lower half. Posted a 7.59 time in the 60 yard dash. Primary right handed pitcher, side step into delivery, short stride to the plate, closed landing, medium arm action with hook, and threw from a three quarter arm slot. Deliberate tempo on mound with recoil at release. Repeated well with athleticism to handle effort level and fill zone. Fastball worked 78-81/82 mph with short arm side wiggle to pitch. Curveball showed good depth with 11/5 shape and threw for strikes. Pitched to contact and let defense work for quick outs. Also worked out at first base, fielded with two hands, strong arm, and accurate feeds to the bases. At the plate, started with an open base, tall stance, deeper weight shift, and an early stride to the ball. Lift off the barrel due to strength with a linear swing path. Strong through the point of contact with an all fields approach. Hand path worked clean with raw bat speed. Will continue to improve with more consistent timing of barrel release.
