Leo Delatorre is a 2016 1B/RHP/3B with a 6-0 200 lb. frame from Sarasota, FL who attends Sarasota. Medium, broad shouldered frame with a strong, mature build and plenty of strength throughout frame. Primary first baseman, fields the ball close to body, pivots well coming off the bag with shorter steps, hands play at the ball with a full arm action through the back side, gets on top and shows strength. Compact arm action through the back from the outfield, mostly arm at release, occasionally gets under throws at release. Also pitched, short rock step into delivery with high leg lift up past belt. Good line and direction towards the plate, smooth and repeatable delivery with a three-quarters arm slot, comes out of hand cleanly with downhill plane. Works ahead in count, fastball topped at 82 mph, hides ball well and tough to pick up. Curveball shows sweeping 10-4 shape, short depth and flashed changeup at 75 mph with tumbling life. Righthanded hitter, begins swing with a small weight shift into contact. Keeps hands in on swing and shows nice looseness to swing with a short and compact path to the ball. Stays balanced through swing, good feel for the barrel with bat speed and natural strength coming off with all fields contact.
