Lane Forsythe is a 2020 SS/RHP/IF with a 5-10 155 lb. frame from Humboldt, TN who attends Trinity Christian Academy. Medium, athletic frame with square shoulders and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout. Primary middle infielder, sound and athletic actions moving towards the ball, extra step through release, hands play well out front and shows a quick transfer out of the glove; shows arm strength off back foot and can drop slot with intent to complete the plate, picks the backhand with comfort, arm strength will continue to develop with added strength. Righthanded hitter, begins with an even stance and a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Upper body dominant swing with subtle shift through lower half; simple and repeatable mechanics in the box. Stays short to the ball with swing path and creates extension out front while handling the barrel nicely. Linear path through the zone with a gap-to-gap approach, handles the barrel and projects nicely moving forward. Very good student. Verbal commitment to Mississippi State.
